UC Travel Center (UCTC) Procedures During Next Wave of UCPath Data Conversion of Other Campuses

Beginning March 1, 2019, as the next wave of campuses joins UCPath, the UC Travel Center will experience some blackout periods, which will affect new employees and may affect their access to the Connexxus Portal, Pre-Trip Authorization (PTA) and Express system.

IRS Extends Reprieve on Cell Phone Policy

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has granted a fourth extension, allowing the University of California to continue suspending implementation of its current policy, which treats cell phones and similar mobile communications devices as a taxable fringe benefit. This latest extension runs through November 30, 2010.

IRS Gives UC Reprieve on Cell Phone Policy

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has given the University of California permission to suspend implementation of its current policy which treats cell phones and similar mobile communications devices as a taxable fringe benefit. The suspension has been granted until January 31, 2010, at which time the IRS has agreed to consider granting an extension.

UC to Cover Moving Costs at 100%

The University of California is now offering full reimbursement for reasonable moving costs to new management, professional and support appointees who are eligible for relocation benefits.

Cell Phone Legislation

The Small Business Jobs Act of 2010 removes cell phones and similar telecommunications equipment, such as BlackBerry phones and other PDAs from the definition of listed property. President Obama signed the Act and the change is retroactive to January 1, 2010. The removal of cell phones from listed property is expected to reduce the substantiation required for employees to show business use. However, the IRS has not yet issued specific guidance on the extent to which the substantiation burden will be reduced.
