Special State Appropriations

The annual Approved State Budget contains a list of approved amounts allocated to the University for Special State Appropriations (180XX funds). The Office of the President Budget Office assigns fund numbers for each budget item and allocates applicable funds for these items to the campuses. Funds for research programs, such as Breast Cancer Research, AIDS Research, Tobacco-Related Disease Research and Subject Matter Projects, are transferred based on a Principal Investigator's approved research grant applications.

Information for fiscal closing:

  • Special State Funds (18000 – 18081, 18089 – 18199):  Balances will be reappropriated to finance specific liens recorded during the second year of the allocation. Purchases against reappropriated funds (Carry Forward/No Cost Time Extension) must be completed within the expiration date of the award appropriation. Do not submit carry forward requests on third year Special State Appropriations. Note: Final expenditures must be recorded on the May ledger of the third year. May is the last chance we have to bill the state for third year expenses. Per the state NO EXCEPTIONS, NO EXTENSIONS. Therefore, any balances on the ledger at the end of May will be lost and funds will be lapsed with June closing.
  • Lottery funds (18082 - 18087):  Balances will be reallocated at the FAU level.
