UC to Cover Moving Costs at 100%

The University of California is now offering full reimbursement for reasonable moving costs to new management, professional and support appointees who are eligible for relocation benefits.

UC Business and Finance Bulletin G-13, Policy and Regulations Governing Moving and Relocation, reflects the changes. Starting December 1, 2008:

  • The rule limiting reimbursement of moving expenses to one-half of actual expenses incurred by new management, senior professional and professional appointees has been eliminated. New hires in these categories are now eligible to receive reimbursement of up to 100% of actual reasonable moving costs, as defined in the policy.
  • New support hires, who were previously ineligible to receive any moving expense reimbursements, may now also receive reimbursement of 100% of their allowable moving expenses.

The enhanced incentive is expected to make the University more competitive when it comes to attracting top-notch professionals.
